My refreshing strawberry basil lemonade stands out from the rest because it's made with my strawberry simple syrup rather than mixing in the sugar directly. It's refreshing and perfect for the summertime!
¾cupstrawberry simple syrup*or 1 ¼ cup granulated sugar (*see note)
2-3cupsice cold water*
Instructions
Add the basil, lemon peel, and strawberries to a glass and muddle well. The idea is to smash down all the juice and extract the oils from the basil and lemon peel.
Strain into a pitcher and add the rest of the ingredients.
When ready to serve, add ice and pour! Garnish with strawberries, basil and a lemon wheel.
Notes
Notes*Using strawberry syrup will give your lemonade extra strawberry flavor! If you use granulated sugar, you will need to mix the sugar into warm water first then allow it to cool down. If you don't do this, the sugar granules will not fully dissolve. I recommend making the strawberry simple syrup a day or two before.*This recipe is customizable to your sweetness liking. Add more/less water or simple syrup to control the sweetness.
