The Fourth of July is around the corner! Do you need a few tablescape ideas that won't break the bank? I got you! I set up my dining table at home with a few different items mainly decorated in red, white and blue and American flags. I tried to keep this July 4th tablescape patriotic and classy and think I nailed it.
July 4th is one of my favorite holidays! Why? Because it's summer, obviously, but it's also one of the most RELAXING holidays to celebrate.
When entertaining, I love knowing I can keep things casual and laid back.
The grill will be hot and the drinks will be cold. The kids will be running around and fireworks will light up the sky. The beach will be packed and boardwalk releasing smells of fried oreos and fudge.
So to celebrate America's birthday, I put together a festive but easy July 4th tablescape for your friends and family to admire! There's no skimping of American flags here.
I'm currently obsessed with table runners. I love how they immediately add a touch of class to any table. Plus, they're incredibly inexpensive, and easy to set up!
No, I do not think you need to splurge on a table runner unless it's for decorative purposes only!
The Lowdown On Table Runners
Table runners can be as inexpensive as $10 or as expensive as $100. For this tablescape, I chose to go CHEAP. I usually do since food will be served over the runner. If your runner is purely decorative, feel free to splurge a bit. There are some gorgeous ones out there!
The Centerpiece
Hydrangeas are the flower of the summer. They remind me of the Jersey shore and always bring a smile to my face. So for my tablescape this summer, I decided to focus on my centerpiece, hydrangeas!
I chose this rattan vase I found on Amazon which is nice and tall, about 10". This is the perfect height for a centerpiece.
The Flags
Notice how rustic these American flags look. They give off a "classic" American feel which I am very much drawn to. They're from Pottery Barn so you know you will get quality.
Adding a few of these decorative American flags to my vase was one of the easiest ways to keep things patriotic and July 4th festive.
Place Settings
I LOVE personalized anything. Place settings? Now that's next level!

I mean, just imagine going to a friends house and you find yourself a designated seat with YOUR name. It's SO welcoming and thoughtful, something only the best hostesses do. 🙂
The Stars
These red, white and blue wooden stars I also got from Amazon! They are inexpensive and a great way to add some texture and color to the white plates I chose.
The Plates
The plates I used for this tablesetting are simple, white and plastic. You can bring out nicer, porcelein plates if you prefer but I like to use disposable for summer holidays. You can grab these same plates HERE.
The Chargers
I LOVE these white chargers. They are so pretty, sturdy and only $5.00 each! I love that I can use them year-round too! Plus, the pretty scalloped edge gives the placesetting some dimension.
The Napkins
These linen napkins are what make the entire tablescape so classy. Throw some paper napkins on there and the entire aesthetic is immediately brought down a few notches. Trust me on that one.
I chose some simple blue and white napkins that can be used all spring and summer for more than one occassion. They are inexpensive and also from Amazon.
Star Plates
I got these star plates from Target's $5.00 section! They are plastic and come in a few colors. I used them to add some chips and grapes to but you can fill them with whatever.
I also had the idea of placing them on top of the napkin to use as a salad bowl!
Blue Glassware
I LOVE blue glassware. It adds such a beautiful pop of color to any tablescape. They can be used for spring and summer parties too so you'll get good use from them.
I got these from Homegoods but found these similar blue wine glasses on Amazon.
Plate & Utencil Holder
I love having a designated place to hold plates and utencils. This red striped box is also from Target's $5.00 section. It's a cute and festive way to display plates and extra napkins.
July 4th Tablesetting Tips
Stick to classic colors. Darker reds, white and darker blues are the best approach. Other materials that go well on summer tablescapes are rattan, like in the vase I used, galvanized steel like in this serving tray, (I LOVE this for a centerpiece) and rustic woods like this round wooden tray.
