Who doesn't love DONUTS?! If you're looking to throw a classier kind of donut birthday party, I got you covered. This party is more rustic and suited for daytime preferrably outdoor birthday parties. It all starts with a donut wall/donut bar that we will be building the party around.
Throwing a donut party at home is a delightful way to celebrate with friends and family. If we're going for a classier approach vs. lots of bright colors or gaudy decor, we want to focus on incorporating the right colors and materials.
How To Throw A Classy Donut Party
1. Look For Rustic Woods & The Right Greenery
- Our donut party theme will be wooden tones, greenery, and whites.
- You can find pre-stained wood decor from many local stores such as Hobby Lobby, Michaels or a local craft fair.
- Choose wooden crates, tiered platters and white clean plates.
- Decorate your space with neutral colored balloons, streamers, and banners.

- Set up a designated area for your donut display, such as a DIY donut wall or a decorated table with a donut-themed tablecloth.

2. Send Invitations
- Use websites like Zazzle to send invitations like this one above! It's easy and in my opinion, more formal to send an actual invite out rather than an evite.
- Opt for an evite if the party is more casual. Evites make things much easier and allow your guests to RSVP from their phone or computer. No stamps or mailing addresses needed.
2. Select Your Donuts:
- Decide whether you'll be making your own donuts at home or purchasing them from a bakery or grocery store.
- Choose a variety of donut flavors, shapes, and toppings to please all tastes. Consider classic favorites like glazed, chocolate, and jelly-filled, as well as more adventurous options like maple bacon or fruity pebbles.
3. Plan Your Menu:
- Set Up A Donut Bar: This donut bar serves two purposes. A centerpiece/decor item for your party and your dessert table!
- In addition to donuts, consider offering a variety of complementary treats and beverages. Options could include coffee, hot chocolate, tea, milk, fruit juices, and flavored syrups for DIY flavored drinks.
- I highly recommend also offering SAVORY options like breakfast sandwiches, egg bites, egg tartlets or mini quiches to balance out the sweetness of the donuts and prevent sugar overload!!

4. Donut-Themed Activities:
- Keep your guests entertained with donut-themed activities and games. Ideas include:
- Donut decorating station: Set up a DIY donut decorating station with various frostings, icings, sprinkles, and toppings for guests to customize their own donuts.
- Here are three donut frostings to try!
- Donut on a string: Tie donuts to a string and challenge your guests to see who can eat a donut the fastest without using their hands! This is great for kids and adults. Just adjust the height of the donuts!
- Pin the Sprinkle on the Donut: A fun twist on the classic party game, Pin the Tail on the Donkey.
- Donut Ring Toss: Purchase some large donut pool floaties and add some round sticks or wooden dowels to a platform or hammer straight into the ground. Then challenge guests to toss the donuts over the rings.
- Donut Towers: Purchase the cheapest donuts you can find and challenge your guests to stack the donuts as high as they can without having them fall over! The tallest donut tower wins!
- Donut BINGO: This is self explanatory and can be found on Amazon!
- Donut decorating station: Set up a DIY donut decorating station with various frostings, icings, sprinkles, and toppings for guests to customize their own donuts.

5. Create a Donut Photo Booth:
- Set up a photo booth with a donut-themed backdrop and props for your guests to take photos in front of! This helps to make the birthday party more memorable.
- Choose props like oversized donut pool floats, donut-shaped sunglasses, giant inflatable donuts or simple donut props (linked below!)
- Encourage guests to take as many photos as they wish and share them on social media using a custom hashtag for your party! #donutgrowup

6. Party Favors:
- Take Home Bags: Send guests home with sweet treats to remember the party by. Consider providing small boxes or bags for guests to fill with their favorite donuts to take home.
- Donut Decorating Kit: Provide a jar of dry ingredients (like people do with cookies) and add instructions to the jar along with a icing bag and sprinkles.
- Donut Themed Accessories: You could also create DIY donut-themed party favors, such as mini donut-shaped soaps, lip balms, or keychains to give everyone a break from the sugar.
- Donut Sprinkle Jars: These sprinkle jars are the cutest and are probably inexpensive. They are from Something Turquoise.
7. Enjoy the Party:
- Once everything is set up, relax and enjoy the company of your guests! Have fun indulging in delicious donuts, playing games, and making memories together.
