🧑Red, White & Blue Drink (With Alcohol)
👶 Red, White & Blue Drink (No Alcohol)
❤️ To get the red layer, we will use grenadine. It's a non-alcoholic syrup that is very sweet.
🤍 The white layer uses Bai Coconut Flavored Water. The cloudy white layer is a must, plus the flavor pairs well with the other flavors.
💙 The blue layer uses Gatorade G Zero Blue Sports Drink. This exact blue drink is a must. Read why below!
🧪 How To Get Perfect Red, White & Blue Layers
The amount of sugar in liquids will make them either sink or float. More sugar, sinks, less, floats.
Proper layering and density is the most important part of making a layered drink.
Because we do NOT want the liquids to mix together, density is a key component. We want each layer to "float" on top of the other not sink.
So to make this happen, we have to talk science! I did teach it for a year afterall! 🙂
But don't worry, it's easy to understand. Every liquid has a certain gravity based on its density (or how heavy it is).
Water, for example, has a gravity of 1.0 whereas corn syrup is around 1.4 because syrup is MUCH heavier due to its high sugar content.

❤️The Red Layer
A low-sugar, high-proof alcohol is much less dense and will float better than one that's low-proof and high in sugar like GRENADINE!
That's why it's so important to add the grenadine syrup first so it sinks to the bottom and stays there.
🤍The White Layer
Bai coconut flavored water and malibu are made with SOME sugar but are not as dense as grenadine so it will float over it.
You can ALSO use lemonade since it will provide a cloudy layer and also has some sugar in it. Just make sure it does not have more than 20 grams of sugar like grenadine does.
💙The Blue Layer
Using the ZERO Gatorade is important because it has zero sugar so it's very light, hense will float well on top of your drink.
If you're making the drink alcoholic, know that you have three options...
- One, you can use blue curacao + vodka. The vodka is a must because it is very light and will help the blue curacao float.
- Two, you could use the same gatorade ZERO combined with vodka if you prefer! Both would work with the vodka.
- Three, you can use vodka + blue food coloring!
🙋♂️FAQ's
One or two of your liquids are too dense. Most of the time, the problem occurs with the blue and white layers. Make sure you are no substituting any ingredients! If the blue layer is too heavy, add more vodka.

Instructions
Non-Alcoholic
- To make a non-alcoholic bomb pop drink, first add your grenadine to a 14-16 oz tall glass.
- Then fill the glass all the way to the top with ice. The smaller the cubes, the better it will work!
- Then slowly pour in your Bai coconut flavored water or lemonade. (See lemonade note below!) You should have a few inches left in the glass.
- Finally, add more ice and slowly pour in your gatorade zero blue over the back of a spoon. (This helps the liquid slowly pour keeping the layers separate.) Serve with a straw!
